Discovering the Healthy Self Workshop 42.395398, -83.479142

This workshop is designed for the layperson to address the most commonly asked questions regarding narcissism and codependency. Participants will become educated and empowered to recover from the painful dynamics that occur when dealing with individuals who exhibit narcissistic traits or who have the narcissistic personality disorder. Although designed for the layperson, clinicians who take this workshop will learn to be more effective advocates for their clients as they establish healthier boundaries and reclaim their authentic being.

The material will:
  • Address the distinctions between narcissistic defense and the counter point issue of codependent defense
  • Clarify the continuum of healthy versus unhealthy self
  • Illustrate the dimensions of the healthy self
  • Discuss the problems and dilemmas that occur when dealing with the narcissistic personality disordered individual
  • Identify the dynamics of the narcissist abuser and learn interventions for self-protection
  • Outline healing and empowerment strategies and interventions
  • Provide a menu of support tools for the continued healing and recovery efforts as participants face the ongoing challenges of these relationships

Attendees who have completed the Healthy Self Workshop are eligible to attend one of Eleanor’s support groups, which meet bi-monthly in her office. These drop-in groups provide support for members to work on their healing and empowerment efforts as they cope with the ongoing challenges and aftermath effects of coping with the narcissistic individual.
